Hello, I bought this desktop a month ago and experienced WiFi suddenly disconnecting several times a week. Tried Ethernet  but still the same problem persists.  It has Realtek RTL8821CE802.11c adapter and I updated the driver many times - no change. Really frustrating. Can I download another software of change hardware to Intel adapter? Many thanks in advance!

Hi:

The latest driver version for the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter is:

2024.10.227.0   06/21/2022

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp142001-142500/sp142005.exe

Your PC only has one Wi-Fi antenna that connects to the Realtek Wi-Fi card, and an Intel card would require two.

Have you installed the latest Realtek ethernet driver for your PC?

1166.10.720.2022

Thanks very much Paul, your advice is much appreciated! I did install the two updates as per the links you gave so now I have to wait a couple of days to see if the wi-fi did not break. After installing, I checked the properties of the Realtek network adapter which indicated the date and time i made changes and 3 'Driver service added' with different codes. Do you think it got installed well? Many thanks again! 🙂

You're very welcome.

You can check to make sure the above driver installed by going to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter listed there, click on the driver tab, and there you will see the driver version and date.

Hi Paul

I let it go for 2 months but no, it didn't help. Yes the frequency of wifi or Ethernet drop is a bit lesser now but still it is annoyingly disturbing my life. I wonder why a world reputed company like HP cannot install a fool-proof card to give us uninterrupted internet connection in the 21st century?? Funnily, I remember 20 years ago in my old Toshiba desktop the wifi connections NEVER dropped off!!! So was later brands like Dell and others. Now in 2022 I have to deal with this super annoying failure by a world reputed PC maker!! I wish I bought something else!!! 😞

Very very disappointed!!
