The wireless router is a Motorola MG-7310. 5 other devices are wirelessly in contact with this router and experience no wifi problems. The router is about 5 meters from the computer. When connected, the computer shows a strong signal from the router. The driver is 5.0.57.0 by Microsoft. Win 10 says this is up to date.
The computer becomes disconnected for no apparent reason at odd times. Often after a period of no activity (e.g. 30 minutes to 10 hours) or while in use (opening a new tab to go to a different web site).
I've set the power management to NEVER turn off the network adarter. I've set the computer to NEVER go to sleep. I;ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter. None of these had any effect.
I've downloaded but not installed sp71571.exe; thought I would send this first.
Please let me know what I should do to end this aggravation.
Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.
It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.
If the issue persists, follow the steps in the below link.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
