Solved!

Wifi not detected - Attempts to use Ethernet

HP Recommended
Envy 23-d027c

Wifi has stopped working.

I attempt to find the listed network for the router, but it won't show any networks.

Attempting to troubleshoot and it only gives me the response to connect an ethernet cord.  In the Network Connections window, there is no visibile wifi network anymore.

Do I need to resintall a driver somewhere?

Hi:

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with a Ralink RT3290 WIFI adapter.

HP PartSurfer

You don't mention what operating system you are running, but if you are running W10, that is a very common issue with that model WIFI adapter and there is no fix other than to upgrade to a newer model internal WIFI adapter, or use an external USB dual band WIFI adapter.

If you want to replace the internal card, the parts list indicates that there are two WIFI antenna cables connected to the WIFI card which means you should be able to upgrade to this dual band AC WIFI card.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You can find this card on eBay, by searching by the HP part number.

Below is the link to the service manual, which will show you how to get inside your PC.

Upgrading and Servicing Guide (EMEA with shipping label) (hp.com)

There is no procedure to replace the WIFI card, but basically you remove the two antenna cables, unscrew the card, and reverse the procedure to install the card.

This video will show you how to replace the WIFI card in a notebook PC.

Your PC has the same type of WIFI card.  Half Mini Card (HMC) form factor.

Thanks!

A shame I gotta dive into this thing internally to fix it and that is isn't compatible with Windows 10.

Oh well, such is life.  Will be interesting at least to look inside this machine.
