HP 110-304na Desktop PC Product J2F56EA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All. Can anyone kindly suggest a compatible/HP approved 5G upgrade for a 110-304na desktop? Current 2.4G card (as shipped) is an Atheros AR5B125. Thank you.

Hi:

Are there two antenna wires attached to the Atheros card currently installed?

If so, you should be able to upgrade to this model wifi card with Bluetooth...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You should be able to find the card on eBay.  Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

If there is only one antenna wire connected to the card, I recommend you purchase a USB dual band wifi adapter.

Hi Paul, thanks for reply. The card has only one antenna wire connecteded (the one at the top left).  Does this mean I cant upgrade to 5g even with the new card that you mentioned? I've no problem doing it with a usb adapter if you think that that is the easiest solution.

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Yes, I recommend you purchase a dual band USB wifi adapter.

You could probably use the Intel card, but the reception may not be as good without the second antenna.

Some dual band USB wifi adapters also come with Bluetooth if you are interested.

If you plan on removing the Atheros wifi card, zip tie the antenna wire to other nearby wires, and make sure the metal connector does not touch any metal parts.  Perhaps you can insulate it with tape or a small plastic tube.
