OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx Ethernet Assistance
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Recently, I have received an OMEN Desktop that has been amazing in terms of performance; however, I am unable to use a wired connection via Ethernet wall-port. The wall-port is labeled with CAT5E markers, and I am using a Belkin CAT5E wire. When I plug the wire into my OMEN, the computer fails to recognize that there is a ethernet cable in it. Unfortunately, I am unable to plug the computer directly into the router, as there are already two family PC's plugged utilizing the space near the router. I have updated the driver that is responsible for handling the ethernet (at least from what I know, I was able to identify the driver via network settings), but I have seen a mixed bag of results regarding the necessity for a USB to Ethernet Adapter for OMENs (both PC's and Laptops). I am not exceptionally well-versed in computer knowledge, so perhaps the assumption that I don't need an adapter is incorrect. Regardless, I would love to be able to take advantage of the high-speed internet that my house has; the capabilities of this amazing desktop are throttled by the inability to utilize the internet to the best of it's abilities!

Thank you, best wishes, and happy holidays,

- OMENBOIIII

Additionally, the WIFI speeds on my 2015 MacBook Pro are far better than the WIFI performance on the OMEN Desktop. I am unaware if this is due to hardware differences, but the location of the two computers are not different.

Hi

So is the Wall Port a working item, if so, how did you prove it?

Copy, Paste and Save in Notepad, as LBB.bat (not a .TXT) and double click to run.
Preferably run as an Administrator.
OR
Copy and use the individual command lines as needed.

Post anything non-personal, but relevant please.

Additionally, I believe the RJ45 wall-ports are functional because I took the wall plate off, and each port had wiring going to them. Perhaps a wrong assumption on my part, but I am uncertain regardless. The wall-port consists of three RJ45 ports and a coaxial port.

Hi

Well you have an ethernet port. Try (with Wi-Fi) disabled...

ping 127.0.0.1

ping 10.0.0.1  (or your default gateway)

ping 13.107.4.52

and redo this one please.....

C:\>PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter -Name * | Format-Table -View Driver"
