Touchsmart 520 PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my wifi connection speed is very poor (approx 4-6mb/sec) from my desktop PC. I also have a HP laptop which when sitting next to my desktop, can connect to the wifi at around 20mb.

I'm running Windows 10 on both devices. The wireless LAN card in the desktop is a Ralink Technology product.

When I select update drivers in the device manager, it says I'm running the most up to date driver. How can I check manually if I have a suitable Windows 10 driver for the LAN card ? Does this LAN card have Windows 10 support ?

Thanks

Hi:

This is the only W10 driver that HP released for the model Ralink wifi card your PC has...

package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek (Ralink) wireless LAN Controller in the supported  models running a supported operating system.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the link. The driver that was on my PC was in fact 5.0.57.0, however once I downloaded the setup file, removed the existing drivers and installed the "new" drivers, my wifi sped up. Perhaps some corruption in my original driver.

Thanks for your help, speed now improved to around 16mb.

You're very welcome.

Yes, that is possible if during the upgrade, W10 installed the driver over the older one that was on there before the upgrade.
