Hi ,

Please share the Full Model Number or product Name or Serial number for your Pavillion 6. I can help to locate the Drivers for it

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Thats strange . Because i am able to get the download option for the driver . Can you try to download the file on a different device and than transfer the driver to this PC via a flash drive ?

Hi, @EHAMBRIC

Here is the link to the W10 driver for the model wifi card your PC has...

This package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek (Ralink) wireless LAN Controller in the supported  models running a supported operating system.

5.0.57.0 Rev.A    Windows 10 (64-bit)   Jun 18, 2015

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71571.exe

DEVICES SUPPORTED:
802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter
Mediatek MT7630E 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter
Ralink RT3090 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Ralink RT3290 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter
Ralink RT3592 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Ralink RT5390R 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Now, here is the problem...Your PC is not supported by HP for W10, which is why you don't see any W10 drivers listed.

That is because some hardware components may not work on W10.

While there is a driver for W10...this driver was released when W10 first came out over 2 years ago, and since then subsequent revisions/updates to W10 have caused hardware to no longer work on the newer versions of W10, such as the most current W10 Creator's Update.

If this driver does not solve your problem, and the PC works fine on W10 otherwise, then the easiest thing to do would be to puchase an external usb wireless network adapter and use that instead of the internal wifi card.

This seems to be my issue. I did an update on the 22nd of September and it was a rather long one. Since that time I have internet through WiFi but it is VERY slow. There are spurts that it works but they are short. I am typing on that connection as I  write this. This is almost unbearable to use. I love my HP laptop but this Ralink has had other issues.

Here is some info on my PC

I have been searching for two days, found some links. I have tried some things,

Adhoc Support for 802.11n - both enabled and disabled did not work.

Power Management Off/On - did not work.

Set MPUs to 1400 - did not work although following the directions for the Powershell was an adventure

I will even post what I followed,  (This retruned nothing Get-NetAdapterRsc) as you can see.

PS C:\> Get-Netadapter

Name InterfaceDescription ifIndex Status MacAddress LinkSpeed
---- -------------------- ------- ------ ---------- ---
Ethernet Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller 5 Disconnected A0-B3-CC-xxxx bps
Wi-Fi Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter 10 Up F4-B7-Exxxx bps

PS C:\> Get-NetAdapterRsc

PS C:\> powershell Get-NetAdapterRsc

PS C:\> netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces

1400 1 23228104622 501xxxxx Wi-Fi
1500 5 0 0 Local Area Connection* 1
4294967295 1 0 xxxxx Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1
1500 5 0 0 Ethernet

Tried - sp71571

Tried - IS_RT2860_W7-5.0.55.0_W8-5.0.55.0_W8Blue-5.0.55.0_20150225_5.0.55.0

Will try sp59525 next and go back. Hopefully that gets it.

I really would like to get this fixed, and yes this is HP's problem as they used Ralink and mediatek who bought them out.

How hard can it be. to fix this? I know there are many adapters out there with issues not just a ralink. I do not think buying and external network card is the answer. I have an old NetGear one but it is really old and that did not work either.

What other options do I have?

Please help.

Ethan
