pavilion 570p026 desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought this computer and I can't connect to my home wifi network to get on the internet.

do I need to buy a separate usb wireless adapter or is there one built in to the CPU?

If built in - how do I know it's turned on?

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your PC.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-570-p000-desktop-pc-series/13823514/model/16571089/...

It comes with built in wifi and Bluetooth networking.

On the lower right side of the taskbar, there should be an icon that indicates:  Not Connected.  Wireless Connections are available.

Watch this video.

If you do not see such a setting, then something is wrong with the wifi adapter.

When I go to lower right icon it says "Not connected - No connections are available"   When I go to "Network & Internet " there is not a button that for Wi-Fi  on or off. The only wireless device is Blue tooth.  It's as if there is no Wireless LAN installed only a wired ethernet  connection is installed.

How do I get my Wireless LAN re-installed?

Thanks for your help so far.

You're very welcome.

There is something wrong with the wifi radio because the Bluetooth is on the same board as the wifi radio.

Since you just bought the PC, there is only one other thing you can try before contacting HP for support under the warranty, or returning the PC if you still can...

Go to the device manager, see if there is a device labeled as a Network Controller with a little ! mark next to it listed there.

If there is, you need to install the wifi driver for it.

If there isn't, the wifi card is defective and needs to be replaced.

According to the parts list for your PC, this would be the wifi driver you need...

If the PC is not under warranty, or you can't return it (the release date indicates it is around 2 years old), just purchase an external USB AC wifi adapter, and you can still use the Bluetooth on the broken wifi card.
