broadcom bcm43142 802.11 wireless adapter card keeps dropping signal. tried checking for updates. says latest ones r installed. i have to keep resetting adapter . please help

@tammy6129 -- it could be either:

  1. your computer
  2. your computer's wireless adapter
  3. your cable-modem's internal wireless adapter

It is easiest to ask your Internet Service Provider to replace the cable-modem.

 

It is not so easy to open-up your computer, and replace the wireless adapter; that's a job for a technician (maybe $40 for the new adapter, and $60 for their labour).

 

It is easy to tell Windows to "disable" the current wireless adapter, and then purchase, install, and configure a WiFi adapter that connects to a spare USB-slot on your computer (maybe $40 for the new adapter).

 

It is easy, but very expensive, to replace your entire computer.

 

P.S.  Do you have any other WiFi device, such as a smart-Phone, or a WiFi door-bell, or an iPad/Android tablet, that loses its WiFi connection at the same time that your computer loses its WiFi connection?
