Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have not been able to connect to the internet.    I keep getting a message that windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter.   I downloaded the ralink wireless controller driver update and tried to install it but I got a message that said "your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.   Update has been cancelled. (9996)"   So I tried downloading the original driver and it didn't download.   What driver do I need??

Without the complete model number of the PC, it will be difficult to offer good advise.  Since it is Windows 7, is this a new install, return to factory install  or what caused this condition?
