8100 elite won't power down
10-14-2015 01:03 PM
Upgraded from Window7 to 10. The machine will not power down. If I send it into shutdown, it just comes back up to a log in screen like it has been rebooted. It has to be manually shut down by holding down the power button. When any windows updates are applied...it hangs on an HP logo screen. I have to manually shut it down.(Yesterday was Update Teus....and it happened again)

After upgrading to Windows 10, some laptops have been experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
- > Power LED remains on after shutdown
- > Computer does not enter sleep or hibernation.
HP recommends that customers seeing these symptoms first update the graphics drivers by removing and reinstalling the hardware in the Device manager.
See the Update the graphics driver section of Where Do I Find Windows 10 Drivers and Software for My Model?

Hello LDHWPB,
What BIOS are you running on your 8100 Elite?
you can check by typing msinfo32 in the command prompt. It will launch a system information window that will have it listed there. Please post the version and date please.

LDHWPB,
Have you tried rolling back to the saved win 7 image, and testing it to see if the same thing is happening? If it does not happen after rolling back to win 7, then we can try upgrading to win 10 again. This will hopefully void the chance that something happened in during the upgrade that may have caused an issue in the registry.
