That's interesting. Thanks for being so descriptive. My BIOS would not let me change the setting from RAID to something else. The HP tech support said that after he reformatted my drive and after I rebooted that I would not be able to see or access the drive, which I did not believe to be true. I also did not believe that the RAID or processor (or whatever) design would prevent having more than 1 physical drive, Bunch of Hooey. RAID is just a redundant storage method. It was probably not setup correctly begin with. HP support person also changed my machine without my permission, he put me on elevator music and changed my system after I asked him--twice--that I just wanted to understand what was going on AND for him to please ask me before he changed anything. He said he would send me a list/description of all the RAID messages, but I have not received them. I can't fathom why support would say such bizarre things. I worked at HP for many years but never had contact with support out of India. I've not been satisfied with any support contact with them. This is not a work machine and I don't need RAID functionality, so I will try to turn it off via BIOS or other.

My BIOS is AMI revision 6.09 09/07/10. I went to the advanced menu of BIOS and noticed that the SATA Controller was already enabled. OK good. The next line has SATA Controller Mode and can be reset by placing the cursor on RAID and pressing enter. That gave me the  choice of AHCI or RAID. When I bought my HPE 460z last December I would get the blue screen of death when I would change the BIOS from RAID to AHCI. Now I don't I don't get the BSOD.  The only hardware change I have made was 2 months ago when I added a 1TB SATA II (3Gbs) drive. AMD RAID (CTRL-F after the blue HP screen) showed the new drive as a simple disk drive. The original system drive continued to show up as an LD (logical drive) as before. When I changed the SATA Controller Mode to AHCI  the "press CTRL-F for RAID  message" went away on boot up. Maybe an update to Windows 7 or the Service Pack 1 made the change from RAID to AHCI possible without the BSODs. I dunno.

I am also having these issues. They have been occuring almost since day 1. Any information on what these error messages mean would be appreciated

Same problem.  My system is a Pavilion p6520f.  Error messages are less frequent than many of you other folks are experiencing.

This kind of a problem and the lack of a solution is UNACCEPTABLE!  Why do companies build stuff they really don't know anything about? The right hand not talking to the left.  Apple is maybe a future product for me.  The hours I have wasted trying to resolve this and other ridiculous problems with my system could have been spent making money that would have paid for 2 apples and a dinner with the wife.

I get this message Also, did you get a resolve for this issue? Task 20 timeout on disk (Port Number 1,Target ID 1) at LBA 0x0274f371 (Length 0x1)

This is the most anoying thing ever. Sadly there is no help for the issue. Maybe we should box up our systems and send them back and demand a refund. I mean people are getting this message out of the box ?? come on.

I hope someone figures this out. :indifferent:

I encountered AMD RAIDXpert error messages after performing a factory restore on a client's non-bootable Pavilion a6750f running Vista Home Premium 64.  This PC had a single hard drive.

I was able to stop the error by disabling the AMD RAIDXpert service.  Type Services in the "Start Search" box.  Right click on Services and select "Run as administrator."  Right-click on the "AMD RAIDXpert Service" and change the Startup type to "Disabled."  Problem solved.

Seems strange that RAID was enabled right out of the box.

On YouTube, I found a good video about RAIDXpert errors:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezS5svpP2XU

It's worth watching the whole video, but here are three key items from it:

1) It's common to use RAIDXpert even when you only have one drive and not using RAID.

2) The RAIDXpert warnings are not caused by the RAIDXpert software.  It's reporting problems.  Removing RAIDXpert is sort of like covering the "Check engine" light with black tape - you're not really fixing the problem.

3) I gather from the video that this could be a sign of the hard drive beginning to go bad.

Kudos to Cube Computer Channel for this.
