Bypassing Cartridge Error Message on C4480 Printer

[ Edited ]

I'm using a refilled black 74XL cartridge for my HP C4480 all-in-one printer/copier/scanner, with no color cartridge because I don't need to print anything in color. I can print without a problem, but I can't make copies because none of the buttons on the printer are functional while it's displaying that stupid "Print Cartridge(s) missing or not detected" error message. I KNOW that a cartridge is missing - it's deliberate - and I want that error message to go away so that I can start making copies again. Any thoughts? (If anyone knows how to make copies using the computer and a USB connection, that will work too.)

Thanks,

~Ethan
