I got a Pavillion P6-2055a cheap, as it has i7-2600, although the rest is stodgy (only USB 2, SATA 300).
It has the Carmel2 mainboard. If I boot and hit escape to go into setup, the fan is whooshing at maximum RPM while in BIOS setup. I can't remember any other PC doing this, and I have had several. Furthermore, it has a crippled patronising BIOS that doesn't let users adjust things like fan control - HP are obviously dumbing down for granmas who still can't program their VCR.
So I doubt I will buy another HP PC. I hope their high-end workstations aren't like this, as my next job has them.
