Clock/calendar not resetting on HP Pavilion Slimline s3400f PC desktop

Clock and calendar not resetting. I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3400f PC desktop running Windows Vista SP2. After I have shut down the computer and reboot it later, the clock shows the time when it was shut down. Also the calendar setting reverts to the wrong month and year. I’ve tried resetting the clock/calendar several times per HP “Help” instructions, but when I reboot, the setting has not taken effect. Any solutions?

Improper time or date settings are usually caused by the CMOS battery.
