Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Hi, I had previously posted a question but forgot to give the pc info. I have a desktop pc pavilion model p6-2014 with operating  system Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I have not installed any hardware or software except connected a new router. My computer shuts down unexpectedly several times starting 2nd week of this month.

At right hand bottom of screen, there is a msg that reads: " Display Driver Stopped Responding & has Recovered. Below that is another sentence that says: "Display Driver AMD driver has stopped responding & has successfully recovered.

Black screen follows then asks if I want to start windows normally and I have to sign on again.

I am not a computer savvy person and do not know what to do. Pls help and provide detailed steps on how I resolve this problem.

Also, I can not access the HP Support Assistant app. Getting a pop up msg that says: HPSF.exe has stopped working. This app has encountered a serious problem and must close. How can I put this app back?

Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Hi,

When did this problem start?  I suggest you try a system restore to a point before the issue began.  There might be a driver conflict causing this issue. Here are the instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc?src=ia&iaaid=50004900&ialnk=ti...

The error before it shuts down indicated the problem is associated with the video system and likely the chipset.

I reccomend installing the following updates:

Ralink wireless

Chipset

Video

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-97608-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

For HPSA you can run HP Recovery Manager and reinstall HP Support Assistant. You can also try this download:

Hope it helps!

Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Hi Nyltiak207,

May I know if the Windows Update is running?

sometimes this require reboot and will shut down automatically.

Beside this problem, you mentioned about the Display Driver issue,

my idea is the same with RasterBlaster, need to re-install the related drivers.

About the HP Support Assistant app, please try to download from :

Hope my ideas helps.

Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly

My Pavillion 500 shuts down without warning. I bought a new power supply hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't. I note this is a common feature with a wide range of HP computers and laptops. Has any solution been found?

I am not under warranty as when I reported issues under warranty the help desk were unable to help and kept suggesting system restore which wasn't the answer.
