Computer wakes up automatically

pavillion p7-1534pc
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have programmed my desktop computer to go to sleep after being idle for 3 minutes.  The problem is that it will repeatedly turn on automatically (turning the monitor on) and then it will go back to sleep after 3 minutes until the next time that it turns on automatically.  There have been times that there is a glitch in the timing sequence and as the result the monitor stayed on indefinitely.  How do I stop the computer from coming on automatically after it has gone to sleep?  I must have a computer with sleep problems

There are numerious issues that can create Sleep from not staying put. HP has a guideline found here.   A discussion can be found here, it's full of tidbits and hints. Personally, I just turn off the monitor. My 3 desktops run 24/7.

Thank you very much for your answer.  Glancing at the info you sent, it appears that there is no solution.  I really don't want to turn off the monitor every time I go away from the computer, which is several times every day.  With all of the sophication, today, I assumed there would be a fix.  I appreciate you taking the time.

Hi

Well of course there's a fix.

Dont turn them off, turn them ON.

A cheap simple IR detector (burglar alarm), or a seat switch and every time you sit down or move into the IR range on come your monitors.
