Connecting HP2511x to MacBook Pro

I have new MacBook Pro and wanted to know best way to connect the monitor. MacBook has a MiniDisplay port.

Should I try to connect with Apple Mini Display adapter to DVI - D or Apply Mini to VGA adapter?

The plug configuration for DVI from HP and DVI from Apple look different. Is the a quality difference using DVI vs VGA?  Looks like plugs are not compatible with Apple and HP.

Recommendations?

Thanks

That one.  Don't deface the 2511x with VGA!!!  My wife has the Mac and adapter on the road this week so I can't look at it.  She connects to something other than an HP monitor.  But, DVI-D is DVI-D - or should be.
