EliteDesk 800 G2 DM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was doing some testing to see if I wanted to stick with the factory installed Lite-On 128GB 6G SSD boot drive that came in the unit, or use a 128 samsung 951 m.2 NVMe module I have on hand.

I ran some crystal mark tests against both them them, and found that the m.2 interface seems to be throttled; I can't get higher than 158MB/s write speeds on any tests. The reads look really good, though, and I was even considering upgrading to a 256GB or 512GB samsung 960 evo (or pro). But if I can't write more than 158MB/s ... the money would be wasted on the upgrade.

Has anyone else experienced similar results?

Thanks,

For fun, I disconnected the SSD SATA drive, and went into the bios and disabled the legacy boot options in the bios. I then installed windows 10 in EFI mode.

I ran the test again, the numbers are almost identical.

Could this be a limitation with the 951 module? Would a 950/960 EVO / PRO module perform better?

Does anyone have benchmarks with the the higher end modules?

Thanks, C.CPQ
