I can't open email because it asks for a password that I have no idea what it is.  How do I eliminate the password step?

I would be helpful if the email software or web mail you are using is identified  ( not the email address but IE: Windows Mail, yahoo, gmail ) and the manner in which it normally is accessed.

I'm not an HP employee.

I don't know how you will be able to read this message, if you cannot open your E-mail, to see a notification that a reply has been posted to this web-site.

The answer depends on which E-mail system you are using:

* web-based systems like Google's Gmail or Yahoo Mail,

* programs like Outlook Express, or Windows Mail, or Microsoft Outlook, that run on your computer.

When you signed-up with an ISP (Internet Service Provider), did they let you choose an ID, e.g., 'it-is-henry-8th@att.net', and did you choose a password for that ID?  If so, telephone your ISP's "Help Desk", and ask them to reset the password, and to lead you through configuring one of those programs to be compatible with their E-mail server.

Note that most of those programs will allow you to "save this password", once the ISP has "reset" it, so that you never need to enter the password again, on that one computer.
