Envy 700-147c Windows 7 Drivers

Just purchased this machine and no matter what, cannot make it work with Windows 8.1 (or 8). HP support was unable to help me, said it was a Microsoft issue. Microsoft put me on hold for 3 hours. I hung up on them...

Windows 7 is the option now and I have successfully installed the program that was breaking in Windows 8.1 (SQL Server 2008 R2 AND SQL Server 2012 in case anyone wants to know).

I have gotten all the drivers functioning except still have a SM Bus Controller in device manager. HardwareID is PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&SUBSYS_2AE0103C&REV_14. I have tried to install the latest from AMD ( already installed the top one in that list to no avail). My graphics according to the sticker on the side of the machine is an HD 8760D but there is no option for that on amd if i try to use their dropdowns. Also, their "Auto detect" doesnt work. It just comes back with "We were unable to find your product or OS".

I am "this" close to returning this machine, but would love it if someone having similar issues could help.

Thanks so much in advance.

You need to install these drivers to finish up...

First install the chipset driver and reboot. That will install the smbus controller. 7 - 64

Then this graphics driver should work...You have an APU with onboard graphics, so you should to have selected that choice.

The graphics driver you selected was for discrete (add on) video cards. 7 - 64
