Solved!

Error Message RunDLL (djhweold.dll not found)

HP Recommended

I have a HP Pavilion g6-1d78nr Notebook PC with windows 7 Home Premium. A few months ago I got an Internet browser redirecting virus. I had alot of difficulty removing it with my norton so I used other software such as spybot found online. One of the programs detected a file called dhjweold as bad for my computer and I deleted. Eventually I got rid of the virus and changed all my passwords because I had a fraudlant charge on my debit card which I think had something to do with the virus.

Now when I start up my notebook I receive the following error:

RunDLL

There was a problem starting C:\Users\Shorty\AppData\Local\{21014283-3890-4468-91F9-0E9994EF1959}\Microsoft Help\dhjweold.dll

The specified module could not be found

Along with recieving this error message, sometimes I can not open any programs or icons at all.

It usually takes 1 to 3 reboots before the computer will start working normally, but I will recieve the above error message everytime the computer starts up.

I can't seem to find a solution on the internet. I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you

Hello jnix,

Following the steps in the following link place your computer in a clean boot state and see if the error message comes up again and if the other issues still happen.

Understanding Windows Boot Options

You are a genius! Thank you! I have not had this laptop for very long, so I was really disappointed with my-self when caused it to have start-up issues. You made my day. Thanks again.

I'd love to say the problem is over, but I think you should understand what we did. What we told the computer is to allow nothing to startup when the computer boots. Most of this stuff you don't want starting up anyways really, but some things (like your anti virus software) you'll want to start when the computer starts up.

You should now go back through the list and systematically start turning things back on. Personally I ignore and don't allow the computer to start up things I hardly every use, but have it start up things I use on a consistent basis, such as my anti virus software and my media streaming software.
