HDMI connection stopped working

Pavilion TS 10 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HDMI connection to a video screen stopped working on this notebook.  The cable works with another notebook.  The problem might be associated with a recent Windows HP update.

HDMI connection stopped working

Hi @SamThiessen,

Thanks for reaching out! :) A very good day to you. :) Hope you are doing well. :)  I reviewed the post about HDMI issues on your notebook.  It will be a delight to assist you here. :)

Spectacular diagnosis of the issue. Stupendous observations before posting. Kudos to you on that score. :) You are a privileged HP customer and we value your relationship with HP greatly.  It is a great privilege to share this platform with you. :)

For better clarity and to assist you better I’d require more information regarding this.

  • Are you sure that a specific update caused this to happen?
  • Please let me know the complete model# of the unit.

If the HDMI cable works with a different computer, then the issue could be because of a recent windows update.

If this occurrence is in the recent past and happened as you think because of a windows update, then you could perform a system restore to an earlier time before the issue started to try and correct the situation. Link for system restore: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545

  • Please follow the option “Restore your computer when Windows starts normally”

If this does not fix the issue please visit this link to correct the situation. Link for resolving HDMI issues: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Spectre-XT-15-Ultrabook/5296019/model/5333249/document/c01186...

  • Please update the bios, chipset, video and audio drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers. Please select the country and type the product# of the unit. Then follow the on-screen instructions shown.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. :)  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  :)

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. :)

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. :)

Happy holidays to you and your family. :)
