HP Laptop Pavilion DV5 No Sound

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe

Hi, am having problem with my laptop Pavilion dv5, it has no sound. The speaker icon shows “No Audio Output Device is installed”.

It has happened once before, I followed the instruction to download the the above link and it was working perfectly well. But not so after I have installed a SpyHunter software, has this virus cleaning software deleted it? What should I do now?

Trying do the same like last time, installed the same link like the one above, but not successful this time.

Anybody know how to fix this? My laptop has no sound at all.

HP Laptop Pavilion DV5 No Sound

Hi,

Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Do you see the IDT Audio device isted here?

If you do, right click it and select Properties - on the General tab, is there any error showing in the 'Device status' box?

Regards,

Hi DavidPK,

Yes it says

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Solved!

HP Laptop Pavilion DV5 No Sound

Hi,

You're welcome :generic:

Once again, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Properties.  Click the Driver tab and then click 'Update driver'.  Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.  Left click 'High Definition Audio Device' once to highlight it and then click the Next button to install it.

Has this made any difference?

Regards,

HP Laptop Pavilion DV5 No Sound

Hi,

Try the following and let me know if there's any change when Windows reloads.

Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 20 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Regards,

Hi DavidPK,

Sorry forgot to ask one more question. How can I avoid the same thing happening again whenever I run the SpyHunter virus cleaning software? Anything I need to be aware?

Thanks!
