HP Pavilion a6600f hangs at Blue HP startup screen

I got a machine that hangs on the HP blue screen then gives 4 options that none work don't matter what you select.  I have replaced the RAM with known good working memory, I have replaced the power supply with a brand new unit, I have replaced the Harddrive with a brand new WD same speed and size of drive.  Nothing is working.  Machine is really not that old - anyone got any ideas - thanks.

I have a intergrated videco card, but to make sure I took the videco card out of my other working machine and put in this machine that is having issues and nothing.

I get 4 options where the screen will boot to and none of them work don't matter which option I select. .

Hi,

Unplug the hard drive, optical drive and all external devices except the keyboard mouse and monitor.  If you are using a wireless keyboard and mouse then change the batteries.  You could be having multiple issues.

Now try booting up to the HP blue screen. Can you enter the bios? If not, try clearing the CMOS and/or replace the CMOS battery.

Now can you enter the bios?

Re: HP Pavilion a6600f hangs at Blue HP startup screen

I unhooked everthing and also took the RAM out. The only left plugged in is the ps2 keyboard. I then booted up sits again at that window to enter one of those four options. I then removed the cmos battery and booted up to the same screen - - nothing works just hangs right there

Thanks again for trying to help

Hi,

Are you hearing any beeps? If yes, HP BIOS beep codes.

So if you are not hearing any beeps and you can't get into the bios the it's time to take your PC into a competent PC repair shop for advanced analysis.

You might try you the memory one stick at a time.

Re: HP Pavilion a6600f hangs at Blue HP startup screen

There are no beeps .. nothing. . . I have come to the conclusion it is either a bad motherboard or processor chip. .  My earlier posts I already replaced the RAM with known good working RAM.   Just seems clear that HP has this boot up problem based on my searches here and don't think there is a common anything.  Seems like most the posts here point back to motherboard / processor issues but for some reason no one wants to say it.

just frustrated but thanks,

Re: HP Pavilion a6600f hangs at Blue HP startup screen

probably corrupt registry or mbr if hardware options eliminated.  May be time to reinstall OS.
