HP Pavillion Shuts Down By Itself!

This has happened twice now in the past week. I'll be working away on my computer and it just powers down. No warning, no error message, it just shuts down. Power light is still on. I have to turn off/on the power at the powerbar, before I can turn it back on.

I've had to replace the hard drive once already under warranty. Its only about 1.5 years old.

Any ideas?

Set all devices to ON in power option.  Disable hibernate.  Retest.

Re: HP Pavillion Shuts Down By Itself!

Hibernate is off, System Standby and Hard Drive are set to Never for shut down.

I've changed the Power Scheme to Always On and monitor it.

Thanx.

Re: HP Pavillion Shuts Down By Itself!

Launch MSCONFIG and click on STARTUP tab.  Uncheck all devices.  Reboot and retest.  Also test PC in SAFE MODE (F8).  Is the PC very warm?  Have you updated the AV and run a full system scan?
