Hello, I have a HP Touchsmart 300 PC.  I have recently sent it in for repair and it has been working fine for a few months.  They replaced the motherboard and the hard drive.  My brother somehow got some malware onto the PC so I decided to do a system restore on it.  Whenever I do a restore from either the recovery disks or the recovery partition it gives me an error saying: recovery manager could not restore your computer using the facory image.  Please contact HP support.  Error code: 0xe0ef0003.  What can I do to fix this and complete the recovery?

Hello,

I do think your recovery partition might be damaged and the only option for you is to order the RCV Kit from HP to be able to restore your windows back to original state.

Are you still able to enter in windows? If yes, try to create the RCV Kit, if you can't, try to order the Kit using the information i posted below.

More information if needed: 4 GB ram, used to have a 500 GB hard drive in it, they replaced it with a 1TB one.  (Could taht be the problem?)  It has an AMD proccessor (not sure which).  If anything else needed, just let me know.

Okay, thank you.

I have ordered the recovery disks.  No I couldn't boot into Windows.  I already had recovery disks made, but they gave me the same error when I tried to recover from them.  I hope these recovery disks that I ordered will do the trick!  When they arrive, I'll let you know the status of the problem.

Thanks,

Adam

I have a Windows XP cd and a few Linux CDs, I can always try those.  I also used the hardware diagnostics software that HP has built in, and all the tests passed.

Hello,

Try to use the Windows XP CD and see if that installs well.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Hello, I have tried the restore CDs I have created again and they have worked.  I have tried it at least 10 times from the CDs and now it finally restores.  Thank you for all your help.  You were extremely helpful.  I still ordered the recovery CDs from HP to have backup CDs that will work if I need to do a factory reset again.

Thanks,

Adam

Hello,

Good to know that finally  you were able to install the HP Image.

Better to keep that new Kit you will receive!

If you need further help, let me know.

THanks,

I had to replace my hard drive recently on the HP Touchsmart 300-1020.  I don't have the recovery disks.  I was able to load Windows 7 on the computer.  However, now I don't have the programs unique to the computer, such as the touch function and all the other functions that caused me to purchase the computer in the first place.  How do I get them?

If the only way to obtain these programs is to purchase the recovery disks, I'm willing to do so.  But how do I load them if Windows 7 is already loaded on the system?  Thanks.
