I contacted HP and was told that it no longer has recovery disks available.  I need to programs for the options unique to the Touchsmart.  If the recovery disks are no longer available, then how will I be able to get these programs?  Thanks.

Thanks, but unfortunately, two tech people at HP nformed me that the discs are no longer available because the computer is over 4 years.  Mine isn't, but I guess the model is .

I asked why the discs were available to order on the website if they weren't available, and I was told that I had to place the order before HP could let me know the discs were not available.  Doesn't make sense, but that's what I was told.

Since you work at HP, perhaps you could help me find out if this information is correct?

Dear Mrstenter,

Thanks you for pursuing this matter.  In response to your question,  I never tried to order the recovery disks off the HP website because two HP technical service people told me that they  were no longer available because the model of machine was over 4 years old.   The last technical person offered to "install" the Touchsmart unique software remotely for $70.  I guess I should have tried to order the disks, but when I was told by the HP technical people that the HP website would appear to allow you to order the recovery disks, but then send you a message later telling you that they weren't available, then it seemed like a waste of time.

I will say that I was able to borrow some recovery disks for my computer from a friend, who has the same computer, but the operating system on his machine is Vista, and mine is Windows 7.  Therefore, I thought there would be a problem in using these disks.   Also, he loaned me 4 disks (I understand that the recovery disks for Windows 7 consist of 5 disks) the last of which was called "Supplemental Recovery."  Would this last disk contain the unique Touchsmart software and/or would some of the other 3 disks also contain this software?   The main issue for me is that I bought the Touchsmart 300-1020 because of its unique software multimedia options, and without those options, then the machine is really not very beneficial to me.

Thanks.

Hi PoodleMom7,

The discs would be available on the site as they go by your model and operating system. The operating systems have to be exact.

Thanks
