Re: HP p6-2375ea card reader not showing

Hi Mark-E,

1.      What exactly happens while you try to connect the device?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

Let’s follow the methods provided below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.

c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the search option.

d. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Install latest drivers for the USB device and check.

Download the Windows 7 drivers from the Manufacturer’s website and install them in compatibility mode.

a.       Right click on the driver setup file and select “Properties”.

b.      Select “Compatibility” Tab.

c.       Make a check mark next to Run this program in “Compatibility mode” and select previous version of Windows supported by the software, from the drop down list.

d.      Then click on “Apply” and “Ok” option.

e.       Then install the driver.

f.       Then restart your computer and check how it works.

Method 3: Install optional updates and check.

a. At the Start screen, type Windows Update.
b. Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select Install optional updates from the left results.
c. When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.

Good luck,

Re: HP p6-2375ea card reader not showing

Hi,

Nothing happens, no light on the card reader, no errors, no activity by the OS.

Regards

Re: HP p6-2375ea card reader not showing

Hi,

It's not unusual for Windows 8.1 to not show the presence of a card reader device unless media is inserted. Open up ThisPC and look at the devices and drives. Now insert a known good memory stick that works on other Windows PCs. When Windows 8 recognizes that media has been inserted, you should hear a chime and then the device will now appear.

Another place to check is to go into the Control Panel --> Autoplay --> and be sure that Use AutoPlay for all media and devices is checked. Also review what action that you want to take for Memory Card. If this suggestion appears to be OK then go back into the Control Panel --> Folder options --> View tab and uncheck hide empty drives and check Show hidden files, folders or drives.

If the above suggestions do not work then go to Device Manager and be sure that you don't have any devices being marked with anomalies. On one of my PCs running Windows 8.1, the reader controller shows up under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
