So my uncle  wanted to give me one of his old monitors and so he did and he tested it before he left the house and it worked perfectly fine for him, it was running perfect then all of a sudden when  it get's here, the screen is just white it doesn't show the usual not connected or whatever it shows when something is not connected. I plugged it into my pc ( through an DVI-D - HMDI converter because my gpu doesn't support dvi-d, and even still when it was connected all it was showing was just a complete brown screen, instead of the white screen. Is ther anyuthing I could do to fix this issue ?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Are you using the monitor as a second screen, or are you using it alone?  If you're using it as a second screen, they try using it to replace your primary screen.

Also, have you tried using the same monitor with the DVI-D-HDMI converter on your Uncle's PC?

The most likely situation is that, for whatever reason, that monitor will not work with that converter.

Good Luck

My uncle didn't test this monitor with the hdmi-d converter but he has the same exact one for the same exact screen and model, and he's doign the same thing and it's working fine for him. It's just this one that doesn't want to work.

Also I connected it without any display ports at all, just plugged into power and the same screen was still showing.

All I can suggest, since we don't really have any monitor troubeshooting guides, is to use one of the monitors that your uncle has that you know works, and see if it exibits the same problem with your PC.

Also, are you hooking ONLY this monitor to your PC?
