How to play a DVD in my computer's disc player?

HP Recommended

How to play a DVD on my desktop computer? Have HP Compaq/Windows Vista 09. Do I need Media Player? I don't know how to operate. All the instructions are for more difficult functions.

Your computer should have Windows Media Player installed on it. Here is a link to a Microsoft document entitled "Getting started with Windows Media Player" for the Vista OS. Please read this document on the use of WIndows Media Player. Playing DVDs and some audio sources may require the installation of special "codecs". These can be downloaded from the internet.

Thank you. I couldn't find  start button that looked like the picture shown for Windows 10 but I went to the window looking far left icon clicked on it, and it pulled up an A-Z list of things you can do on the computer.  Thankfully in the "W" - hehe he! I found the Windows Video Player as you suggested. Although it said the disc was empty. I don't believe it is since it's from the Smokeybear.com Wildfire Prevention company and states it's DVD/CD rom compatible.  None the less I will try it in a TV dvd player and see if it works. Thank you for the link it did send me to HP Support.
