Example: Pavilion 25xi
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
HP Bios update. Why does this update take so long. Been 15 minutes. Should I cancel and reboot?

No.  Give it more time.

My personal opinion is to never do a BIOS update as the _first_ step in any "trouble-shooting" scenario.

Why do they send them then? Really P/O now. Nothing happening. Screen black

Hi Knotty

Doing the BIOS update via HP Support Assistant is sometimes hazardous to your PC's health.

Don't do anything as mdklassen stated.

But this is not a good sign. If this update fails you may be looking at an HP RMA to fix a bad BIOS update.

Some HP computers extract the current BIOS, and save it to the "System Recovery" partition on your disk-drive.

This allows an "Emergency Boot" of your computer, allowing a corrupted BIOS to be replaced by that "saved" copy.

Hi Knotty

Please read reply PM for links to HP sites for instructions on recovering the BIOS.

This will only work if your PC supports this function.
