Hi,

Please try this first: use a piece of soft cloth or just soft material and clean the lens.

Hope this helps.

I tried cleaning the lens with an appropriate cloth before I posted.  It is not a dirty lens.  I have tried adjsuting all the settings.  It looks like there is a fog.

Hi,

Why don't we start ut with your identifying your HP desktop with its product number. The product number is present on the service tag on the side or rear of your PC. Please don't post the serial number.

You state that you have a built-in web cam. Is your PC a notebook rather than a desktop PC? If it is then the service tag will be on the bottom of the notebook PC. Post the p/n labelled #2.

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the information. Smiley Happy

"To clean the HP webcam lens, use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, such as a micro fiber screen dusting cloth. You can find a suitable screen-dusting cloth at a computer store. Gently rub the webcam lens with the cloth."

It has already been determined earlier that this is not the problem. So I am just assuming that it is broken and that's that.

If your notebook is still within warranty ( that is normally one year) then the WebCam can be replaced at an HP Service center.
