Your PC/Device needs to be repaired

The Boot Configuration Data file doesn't contain valid information for and operating system

File: \Boot\BCD
Error code: 0xc0000098

You'll need to use recovery tools if you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your PC administrator or PC/ Device manufacturer

And everytime I put my installation disk to repair it. It wont work and goes to the blue screen.

Hi @Ricafl101

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to windows and getting stuck on a blue screen.

I’d love to help!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

@Ricafl101

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.

I've reviewed your conversation and to clarify are you attempting to install the Windows 10 on your computer?

If you are, which it seem like according to your second post, I must inform you that HP does not recommend installing a retail version of Windows on the HP computer as it may cause other issues related to drivers and performance.

That said, it would also void the software warranty (if any) on your computer, If you wish to proceed, either way, you may have to do so at your own discretion.

I see that your PC was shipped with: Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Media Center (64-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1
And if you wish to repair or fix this issue, you might want to use the recovery manager: Click here to know-How to obtain one.

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉
