Lost password on Main Account, p6310f Windows 7

I changed the password to my computer recently and forgot to write it down. When I went to log on later, I had forgotten the password. I can log onto my brothers account, but his is a limited access account. How can I recover or delete the password on my account.

Lost password on Main Account, p6310f Windows 7

Hi,

Hopefully one of the software offerings on the link below should help.  I have seen Option 3 ( PC Login Now ) recommended on here.

Let me know how you get on.

Best wishes,

Lost password on Main Account, p6310f Windows 7

When login screen prompts for a password, do not enter anything, just hit enter.  If that doesn't work, see below methods.
There are 3 methods you can try.
Method 1 - Reset password from another Administrator account:
Log on to Windows by using an Administrator account that has a password that you remember. You may need to start Windows XP in Safe Mode (to boot in Safe Mode, hit F8 repeatedly at the boot up screen).
Click Start.
Click Run.
In the Open box, type “control userpasswords2″.
Click Ok.
Click the user account that you forgot the password for.
Click Reset Password.
Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes.
Click Ok.
Method 2 - Try command prompt for the "reset password trick":
Log in with any valid account.
Open the command prompt.
Type: net user (you should get a list of accounts)
Type: net user Administrator *
Type: net user (any account on that list) *
It prompts for a password.  Enter one, then enter it again when prompted to confirm.
Then try to log on as 'Administrator' with your new password.
Method 3 – Using third party password recovery tool
Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download {Content Removed} from its official site and install it on that PC. (Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD/DVD or a USB flash drive)
Get out the newly created CD/USB and insert it to the locked computer.
re-booted the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your computer's Setup to make it boot from CD drive or USB drive) and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.
logon PC without password and setting the new password.

If you lost your computer logon password, try to log on with other user account to change a new password or remove your account.

1.  Reset password with User Account Management.

First, open User Account Management with this path: Control panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts\Manage Accounts.
Second, select a user account you need to reset or remove password, and then click “Change the password” on the left panel.
Third, enter new password, and then click “Change password” to save the change.

2.  Reset or remove a user password with a administrator user. A user who has administrator privilege can has the right to reset or remove password for another user.
First, use Net user command: Open command prompt (In Windows 7 and vista, must run command prompt as administrator), and then type in: Net user <user name> <new password>. Or use Net user <user name> "" to remove the password for a user.
Second, use User and Account management panel to remove the password. Control -> Add or Remove User account -> Choose a user -> Choose Remove password on left panel.
