Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We purchased our computer in late 2010 or early 2011.  It had slowed significantly and was freezing up.  I conducted a system recovery after backing up our files on an external hard drive.  Now that it has finished the recovery, we do not have Microsoft Office installed (Word, Excel, etc).  I was able to pull the product code from the back of my computer, but where/how do I go about downloading the software again, without paying for it?

Thanks.

Hi,

The product code on the back of your machine will not work, that code is for Windows 7, not Office.

For Microsoft Office 2010 Starter, please try:

And you don't need a key for the product.

Regards.

@JG221

It's a wild shot, but it might work -- as some of the key recovery programs claim they can recover keys from a connected external drive.

Here is a link to several of the most well-known key recovery apps:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119

If you can recover the Office key using that app, you can then download Office from Microsoft and activate using that key.

Good Luck
