Mouse only working as long as keeps moving

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I've had this wireless mouse (and keyboard) for a few months.

the mouse has stopped responding. turning it off and on again makes it work for a few seconds and then it turns off (light turns off, becomes unresponsive) - unless it is kept in constant movement and then it remains working.

The accompanying keyboard that uses the same reciever works without a problem.

Things I've tried:

1. replacing batteries.

2. using different USB port.

3. on a different computer.

4. removing from control panel -> Device Manager

any ideas?
