My computer has been infected with a virus, how do I fix it?

Hi, my newer computer has been infected with a virus and spyware, and will not do anything at all. How can I get it up and running again?

Before doing the complete recovery, as you will revert back to "From the Facorty" state, look at the second post here ( by Grif Thomas ): http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-525486.html?tag=contentBody;threadListing

That process will do the best at getting rid of a pest without loosing everything else.
