Need some advice on upgrading my Z800 with ASUS GTX 1080 graphics card

HP Recommended
HP Z800 workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to install an ASUS GTX 1080 graphics card in my HP Z800, but the auxilary PCI power cable is only an ATX 6, whereas the card needs a newer ATX 8, so will a 6 to 8 adapter work?

@jelefante2, welcome to the forum.

 

There are three things that you have to check before buying the GTX 1080: 1) does your motherboard have UEFI instead of a Legacy/standard BIOS, 2) the amount of power that it requires and is your PSU sufficient and 3) will it fit into the space?  If your system meets these requirements you can use the adapter in the link that I provided:
