I connected the small powered speakers that came with my P7-1003w, but I get no sound. The model is HSTNN-SS01.

These have both USB and green stereo connectors. The green plug is in the green jack, and the USB is connected, but i just get whining noises. I went through all troubleshooting, but get nothing. Reinstalled the sound driver and rebooted;nothing. No headphones are plugged in. Mute is off. Volume is up. These have never worked since i bought the computer. i thought the speakers were bad until i had a problem with Dragon software.

Dragon Naturally Speaking can't find a soundcard and aborts.

Any suggestions?

Thes peakers work with the front headphone jack and front USB, but not with the connectors on the back, which may indicate a hardware problem.

Dragon still won't start because it can't find the multimedia device. This really screwy, because the sound hardware is at least present and partially working.

What version of Windows are you using?

Hello Kyle,

The PC came with Windows 7 installed. I haven't changed any drivers or settings.

Try the following steps.

1. Open up device manager.

2. Locate your audio driver.

3. Right click and uninstall the driver.

4. Go to the toolbar in device manager and select "scan for hardware changes."

5. After it completes, reboot the computer.

Try the audio now and let me know if it continues to have the same issue.
