Optical Drive HP A DH16ACSH

I never used a Optical Drive so I hope my question makes sense.

I purchased on Sep 2012 a HP P2-1117BC x64 desktop which has a

HP A DH16ASCH Optical Drive.  When I started to make a backup

of my system it automatically advised me to insert a DVD-R disc

to start the job and it also informed me that I would need 4 of

these to complete the job.

I never used DVD-R for downloading and always used CD-R so as

a consequence have no DVD-R discs.  I put a CD-R into the drive

but it was rejected.

Is there a tutorial available where I can read how to acomplish

what I wanted to do.

Thanks

[ Edited ]

Hi:

Below is a link to the HP instructions for creating recovery media.

If you plan to use optical disks they MUST be DVD's.  CD's will not work under any circumstances.

Re: Optical Drive HP A DH16ACSH

You buy DVD disks which are not the same as CD-R

and start agin.

The disks look alike so be careful that you are getting DVD and not CD.  The DVDs hold much more but are also more expensive.
