Optical Drive doesn't open

HP ProBook 640 Gi
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My ProBok has an optical drive, but doesn't open and cannot list it in the computer section. There is no symbol or key to open it.

When it is booting, do you see the light on the front flash? If it does, then it is getting power and sounds like a driver problem. If it doesn't, it could be that the power cable could have come undone.

Alright, so this involves you going into Device Management.

1. Press Windows + R at the same time.

2. Type in "devmgmt.msc."

3. Extend all menus and take a screenshot for us so we can see if its detected there.

Optical Drive doesn't open

Hi,

Firstly, it is a 640 G1 (number one, not leter i). Your machine may NOT have Optical drive as shown

That means you can add an optical drive (ODD or CD/DVD, BD) or you can put a second HDD to the empty bay

Regards.
