HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am running Windows 10 64-bit on an EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower desktop. I recently ran an update to the latest BIOS version, and the update seemed to finish successfully. When the system did a restart after the update, the system would not boot up. It runs for a few seconds, then shuts down for a few seconds, then starts up again for a few seconds, then shuts down again, and so on. I have let the system run like that for up to 20 minutes and it continues to cycle on and off.

I would like to be able to boot up in Safe Mode, but I am unable to have any of the command keys (Windows+R) or PF2) function to be able to access Safe Mode.

I have tried unplugging the power and the modem, separately, and trying again, with no luck.

Unfortunately, I do not have a system backup on disk or on a USB drive, and I did not receive any Windows 10 startup disk with my PC (it was pre-installed). I just purchased this PC in September, so it should still be under warranty.

Any ideas what else I can try to be able to boot up successfully?

Hi jimf3

Try pulling the motherboard battery. Wait about 15 minutes. Then reinstall the battery.

See if this helps.

The system seems to have a corrupted BIOS.

You may have to get help by contacting HP Support. There is not much else you can do when this happens.

System backups will not help when the PC will not POST.

Grzy
