My computer can be booted to the Vista display with the desktop. When up, various desktop icons flash on and off at random. If an icon is selected with the mouse, a program loads, but not the one selected. Any attempt to shut down using the standard procedure results in immediate shutdown and the unit cannot be restarted without turning off the power and turning it back on again.
Best Buy's Geek Squad has had the unit and are unable to back up the files. They diagnose a corrupted operating system and cannot repair the unit. They suggest that, if I want the files (I do) that I send the hard drive out to a recovery specialist. Does anyone have experience with this and can you recommend a reliable company to perform this work?
Thank you.
