Printer will not work via network in single cartridge mode

HP Recommended
Deskjet 2540

Help needed!

Printer will not print via network in single cartridge mode. (Black ink HP original cartridge installed.) Prints fine when connected to computer with a cable, however - pop-up for single cartridge doesn't stop printing. Weirdly, it prints test page via wireless network fine. Have followed all turn off/turn on, clean print heads etc advice but problem persists. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Simply says 'requires user attention' whenever I try to print from all programmes, but there is no active problem highlighted in the manage printer software. Through process of elimination I've identified that single cartridge mode must be problem? But isn't it odd that it's only a problem when I'm using the printer (and scanner function) via wireless network, not when connected?

@JF54bb

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand the Printer will not work via network in single-cartridge mode,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

What is the product number of your product? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

Since you feel that it could be a software related issue, it's important to know which operating system is being used?

In the meantime, I recommend you delete/remove the full feature software/drivers and then install a fresh copy from the Official Hp Website: Click here

If you are using windows: Click here to complete the wireless printer setup after the above step is completed.

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Eager to help!

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution.

And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.
