Problem with my Ethernet connection

I have a Pavilion p6367c that will not connect to the Internet. It previously connected until I bought a new wireless router. All my other laptops, iPad, IPhone, and so on connect just fine. I just keep getting a message that the Ethernet cable is unplugged. There are no problems with the cable itself (plugged laptop into cable and works just fine).

Problem with my Ethernet connection

Hi Fixit123,

Are you connected to the Wireless router through the cable? Have you tried connecting wirelessly?

It's possible your PC is not releasing the settings from your previous rounter.

Did you installed any new network card that supports wi-fi to the pavilion PC? I do not see any wireless network card shipped along with the PC based on available product spec in HP.com.

Yes, through the cable and I don't believe the PC has wireless capabilities.

Problem with my Ethernet connection

Are you connected with the Ethernet cable to the wireless router or your modem?

Have you tried resetting the modem?

Yes, Ethernet to wireless router and yes I tried to reset it. When I first installed the new wireless router, my compuer thought I was trying to connect to a "public connection ". The computer picked up on the connection but would not join it. I thought maybe the firewall was interfearing so I changed the settings and it didnt help.

Interesting..that means the PC recognized the new network connection. I'm thinking the problem is that you need to manually set the Network SSID and password.

Try the steps in this HP Support document on troubleshooting wired networks:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01895568

I hope this helps.
