Our HP Touchscreen 300 ( now 2 years old ) is having problems as follows; ...
If U leave the computer on for a while it enters a sleep mode to save power on the screen and this is OK but when U touch the keyboard or mouse to start using again, a high speed fan starts up and the screen stays blank. Then it is necessary to restart the computer. It is quite likely that U would need to attempt to restart many times over B4 the high speed fan stops and the blank screen shows a startup screen. Also sometimes the computer simply freezes.
We have used system restore to an earlier time, and have also done a complete restart back to first setup and boot.
We luv this computer but mayB its time 2 get a newy.
Any advice or suggestions R welcom.

No it's not time for a new computer. What you describe is effects of malware and viruses. First run a computer check up. Open up recovery manger and select run a computer check up. This test will tell you if you have any hardware issues. Witch I dought you do but to make sure you do not have any way. After the test is completed and every thing has past test. Then perform a complete factory restore not a back restore (Micrsoft System Restore) It is to hard to fix malware or virus damage witch is causing freeze up. Computer's wake failers. Do back up your personal files do not use recoveries method it does not work least on my HP Touchsmart 600-1050 .Best way to do back up is click on files and drop them into an open blank DVD-R disk.
New Touchsmart s cost double then what we paid for ours new. So we are better off keeping our old models running as long as we can. If your test result turned up any thing bad check out how much that part cost and compare it to a new computer cost. Remeber this, our models with Touchsmart version 3 software had very little issues or any issues at all. New version has all kinds of issues. These computers are farely easy to replace parts on..
Factory restore is most likely thing you have to do. frrw

Thanks for your assistance - We did a factory restore - but still having same issues - did virus scans using Microsoft security essentials - no issues found - rann checkdisc 1 to 5 and defraged - still the issues persist - am now looking at downloading new drivers for wireless keyboard and wireless mouse that may be having "exit hibernation problems".
Thanks again - Dickndora
