XW 6400
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys !

I would like to know can i use processor x5460 in my xw 6400 workstation . Motherboard is HP 0a04h. And if it suits physically what happens when i try ?

And If you say that it will not support it, is there any change to actually use it in this motherboard ?

The following old thread has a discussion on the subject.

The processor will fit since it is also a socket LGA771.

Another third-party source for compatible components

Read the following discussion about processor upgrade and compatibility.

It appears that some people have had success upgrading to the x54xx. Make sure that the TDP of the processor is the same that the OEM Xenon had.

You can certainly try it. Since the socket is the same, it will fit, but there is no guarantee that it will run as expected.

I have read those Posts and everybody says that it is not possible. So you rather think that it will not work ? And it is better to not try it ?

I suggest that you base your decision on the best information you can find.

If what you found in reading all says it is not viable, then it is clearly not worth it.
