Radeon 5770 Video Card will not work

I just purchased the ATI Radeon HD 5770 card and when I installed it I got no video display. I tried it on another computer and I got video. I'm wondering why it's not working on my HP Pavillion computer that has the PCI Express 1.0 x16 slot. I was told the video card is backward compatible with the PCI 1.0 slot. My CPU is DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2400 MHz with 4 MB of RAM. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I called XFX (manufacturer of card) and they said there are issues with my motherboard and either the chipset in the card or the 1GB of memory on the card (the computer does not see it).
Has anyone else run into this problem and if so is there a solution? Is there a BIOS update that might fix this issue?
Thanks.

Re: Radeon 5770 Video Card will not work

XFX is a very good manufacturer.  I have always gotten very good advice from their Tech Support.  However, I believe they may not have asked the correct questions.  What is the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU)?  I believe the 5770 requires at least 450W.  If your PSU is less, this may be your problem.

Re: Radeon 5770 Video Card will not work

I have the same problem with my HP Pavillion a6620a, the 5570 card requires a 450W 6 pin cable, and the PC power supply doesn't have one. Not sure what to do tho.

This wouldn't be the first time that a late model ATI card fails to function in a HP.  The bios, motherbaord and card all have to work together.  You might want to try an older NVIDIA video card that matches up with the wattage and 12+ volt amperage of your PC's PSU.
