That graphics card supports both types according to AMD. I just want to make sure that HP's OEM card uses the GDDR5 before I order a desktop having that card inside of it.

A word of caution, I have an AMD 7570 OEM Hp card and you cannot update the CCC drivers with AMD's drivers. The card will not be recognized using auto-detect if you go to AMD's update site and you will not have the option of having AMD push updates to your system.
Don't know if that will happen to you but, if your looking to game or need the latest AMD drivers you will be disappointed.

I just wanted to add something to your post. While you are correct that AMD's drivers will not usually work on OEM models of the graphics cards it is still sometimes possible to update using the AMD version. The game client "Steam" can sometimes accomplish this. Though, it does not always work.
Take a look at this thread.
Have a wonderful day.

Have not tried that. When I purchased the HP h8 1380t CTO system with the 7570 graphics card, I was not expecting this scenario.
I also have an HP 560z CTO with a 6570 AMD card and receive driver updates from AMD as they are released. So,I can't verify if the 8570 is not able to use AMD's updates.
A gamer would not want a card that cannot be updated to the latest drivers.
